Adoption and Foster process

Adoption and Foster process

All vet visits including inoculations, spay/neuter, microchip, flea/worm, to be undertaken by fosterer as instructed by Compassion For Cats. Nominated vets only to be used: Chew valley vets, Helen: 07825 553696

Please note any additional vet visits must be pre-approved by Compassion For Cats.

You must post a monthly update (first week of the month) on Compassion For Cats Facebook group.  This post must name the cat/kitten and make it clear it is available for rehoming.  Please include as much relevant information as possible regarding the type of home which would suit the cat/kitten and direct enquiries to yourself and/or Judy Knowles via Messenger.

When interest arises for the cat being fostered, the fosterer must ask for information about where the cat would be going and assess how suitable the people would be for the cat. The fosterer should inform Judy Knowles (The owner) about this interest and who is interested in adopting the cat.

The fosterer can ask the adoptees to come to the rescue and fill out paperwork or the fosterer can complete this at the time of adoptees visiting.

They need to ask about their access to the outdoors/ if they plan to keep the cat indoors as some cats do require one or the other.

Information about the people and other pets living in the house must also be given as the cat may have restrictions with who it can live with.

A home check must be carried out, this can be carried out by the fosterer or by a member of the charity.

A donation of £130 is asked for any cat being adopted and this applies to cats in foster as well.

People interested in a cat to adopt must message Judy Knowles, the owner at 07786 238942 to set up an appointment to come and visit us and the cats, unless the cat is in foster then you will be put in touch will the fosterer to arrange a visit to their home.

Once here, if you are interested in a cat, a home check will have to be arranged at a mutually convenient time/day in order to assess if the cat would be suitable. Only after this is completed, can a cat be reserved.

Paperwork must be completed to register a reservation and then again to complete the adoption.

Once a reservation is put in place, a time and date to collect the cat or to arrange someone to drop off the cat will be discussed and a donation of £130 is needed for the cat to go to its new home.
